John joined Kolburne in 1978 as a Child Development Counselor and P.E. teacher, and over the years has held the positions of Academic Proctor, Administrator of Educational Services, Campus Director, Director of Residences, Program Director, and since 1998, Director of Human Resources, where he is responsible for hiring, employee benefits, union negotiations, and employee relations. John holds a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Massachusetts and a M.Ed. in School Administration from Westfield State College.
Margo Drohan, Ph.D, RN, NP
Director of Nursing & Health Services
As Director of Nursing & Health Services, Dr. Margo Drohan is responsible for the health, wellness, and medical needs of all Kolburne residents. Prior to joining Kolburne in 2009, Dr. Drohan was a pediatric sexual assault nurse examiner for the Berkshire County Kid’s Place Children’s Advocacy Center in Pittsfield, MA, and associated with Hospice Care in the Berkshires as both a Nurse Practitioner and as Program and Clinical Director of Pediatric Palliative Care. Dr. Drohan attended Cuyahoga Falls School of Nursing in Ohio, and received both her Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Lehman College, City University of New York, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island.
Dominick Ferrusi, M.Ed
Director of Education/Kolburne School Principal
Dominick has been at Kolburne for 21 years, the past seven in his current position as Education Director and Principal of The Kolburne School. In his capacity as Education Director, he is responsible for overseeing Kolburne’s academic and food service programs. Dominick is licensed by MA Department of Early and Secondary Education as a School Principal for grades Pre-K through 12, as a Special Education Administrator, Vocational Principal, and School Business Administrator. He is also a Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection and Food Management Professional, SafeServ Instructor, and Certified in Child and Adolescent Nutrition. Dominick has a B.S. in Business Administration from the Sage College of Albany and a Masters in Educational Administration from Westfield University.
Kathleen Greco, LICSW
Director of Admissions
Kathleen has been working with children and adolescents for over 45 years. She joined Kolburne in 1989 as a Clinical Specialist before assuming the position of Director of Admissions in 1992. As Director of Admissions, Kathleen is responsible for the review, assessment and determination of appropriateness of candidates to Kolburne, and coordinating and facilitating the admission of new students. Prior to joining Kolburne, Kathleen worked at a teaching and training hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a mental health consultant for Head Start in Jamestown, Pennsylvania and worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Social Services. Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Eastern Nazarene College and a Master of Social Work from the Worden School of Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.
Sue Harrison, MSW, LICSW
Co-Clinical Director
Sue joined Kolburne in 1980 as a Child Development Counselor, and over the years has held the positions of Team Supervisor and Clinical Specialist before assuming the position of Co-Clinical Director in 20XX. Sue holds a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Maine and a Master of Social Work from Adelphi University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Jonathan Hirsch, LSW
Co-Clinical Director
Jonathan, a clinical specialist, has been at Kolburne for the last 25 years as a direct advocate for children with special needs. Over the years at Kolburne he has held positions as Behavioral Consultant, Treatment Administrator and for the past three years, Co-Clinical Director responsible for student clinical care. Jonathan holds a M.A. from Columbia University.
Michael Kirchner
Chief Financial Officer
Michael is a creative and accomplished executive with 12+ years of experience optimizing growth and viability through outstanding operations and financial management expertise. He joined Kolburne in 2010 as Chief Financial Officer responsible for the organization’s finances, accounting, and operations. Prior to joining Kolburne, Michael was president of Richmond Telephone & Richmond NetWorx. He holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Bentley University.
Kathleen Vaill
Milieu Director
Katie has spent her 20-year professional career working with and supporting children and adults with severe developmental and behavioral challenges. She joined Kolburne in 2006 as Residential Director from Sullivan & Associates in Pittsfield, MA, where as Director of Operations she was responsible for a satellite program that supported individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness. As Residential Director, Katie has high standards for both the quality treatment of the students in her care and the residential staff that she manages. Katie is an expert on residential regulatory compliance, especially in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and opened the first licensed group home for children in Connecticut in the 1980s.
